After doing all the process I have to
spray the plate with hairspray. And then
wash it.
1. I have to draw my sketch on the plate
with white oil paint for the parts I wanted to be
white; so at the moment of printing that parts will be white.
2..Then I placed the metal plate in the acid for 7
minutes to burn it and for later steps draw the
lines with the drypoint.
3.Then I have to wash the plate so that the
white paint would fall and could start to draw
with the drypoint as the car wax did not work.
4. Then as a result of the drypoint the lines had a
different relief and the painting will only stay on the lines drawn.
5. I clean the plate with news paper to
remove the paint that was left over
6.The last step was to place the plate on a
press that printed the paint of the metal plate
on a cardboard, so my cover of the album was
ready.
7. So the final result of my cover was this:
Final statement:
In 1492 the Spanish arrived to Latin America discovering the new world full of riches. Transforming us in work machines they promised us love and care for a bell full of gold each week, but the indigenous didn't knew this mans they thought they were gods because of his clothes, at the end they finish treating the indigenous as savages, animals. This change our identity because they imposed us the religion, traditions, culture, how to dress and basically everything just because they wanted, Identity is what characterize people in a specific place; and in the moment they change everything our identity wasn't the same.
My artwork was a representation of the colonization with a hidden message to make it more interesting. That's why I choose a storm for the past because it was very difficult for the Latin Americans. A car because is the present what we are now, That's why I put a license plate at the end of the car with the date of the colonization, and light rays to represent he future because it is uncertain also with a license plate ahead of the car with a question mark (?). My conclusion is: Stop lamenting for your past, live the present and dream the future.
I think the assimilation with David Manzur and Rafael Yockteng is that I tried to express myself by a hidden message and representing my conflict that was colonization, with some characteristics that they have meaning ( Colors, textures, messages, etc). I just express what I think the society of Latin America have to do to move on and construct better country's.
During the process of creating my artwork I had positive aspects and as well negative aspects.
Positive aspects: I payed attention, I analyze and think a lot my project with the statement of inquiry meaning I research a lot of information for a better result.
Negative aspects: It was difficult for me sometimes to connect what I had in my head and my conflict that was colonization, but at the end I connect the colonization in a nowadays message meaning I combine the past with the present creating a artwork that is very creative.
